Mario Party 4 Review

Introduction : This is a party game (duh), and it's a very good one at that. I rented it from my local Blockbuster, and it's all I did for a week. It's the best Mario Party game. I've played all four, and this one is defianatly the best. Because, I really didn't like rotating the control stick in Mario Party, most of the mini-games in Mario Party 3. The only Mario Party game that comes close is Mario Party 2.

Gameplay : This game has the best gameplay in all video games that are like board games. Never mind that, in all video games. Tweety and the Magic Gems is fun, but it doesn't even compare to this masterpiece. If someone who has never played a Mario Party game just watched the ''How To Play'', and then just picked up a controller and started playing, they would be able to play. The controls are very responsive, and at the beginning of every mini-game the controls are shown. I give the gameplay a 10/10.

Story : There is a story in this game. A wrapped gift comes floating down from the sky and lands in front of Princess Peach's castle. In a flash of light it explodes, revealing a ordinary box with ..um.. not ordinary markings on it. It then opens up revealing Shy-guy, Goomba, Toad, Boo, and Koopa. Toad says it is a ''Party Box''. In story mode it is your birthday and everyone wants to give you presents. How nice. I give the story a 10/10.

Party Mode : This is by far the best mode in the game. Why you ask? Because it has multi-player. If you don't know what multi-player is, it is more than one person playing a game. In Mario Party 4 (and one, two, and three for that matter) it is two to four people. I give this mode a 10/10.

Story Mode : This is a one-player mode. A one-player mode is for one player (duh again). Basically everyone wants to give you presents because it's your birthday. But first you have to complete their boards. This mode isn't as fun as playing party mode with three other friends, but it is still fun. All boards are set to fifteen turns and the controller options are turned off (no cheating). It is fun, like the Story Mode on Mario Party 3. I give this mode a 10/10.

Mini-Game Mode
: This is the mode you've all been waiting for - Mini-Game Mode! Mini-Game Mode is only fun after you've played at least one board, whether it is Party Mode or Story Mode. That is because if you don't play one, no mini-games will be unlocked, and that means you can't play them. But this game is like Mario Party 3, in the way that you don't have to buy mini-games. I love this mode because I love the mini-games. It is a great way for you mini-game lovers to play your favorite mini-games over and over and over again. I give this mode a 10/10.

Option Mode : This mode is obviously for tweaking various options such as rumble and sound. No comments here. I give this mode a 10/10.

Presents Mode : This mode is for presents collected on your ''adventure''. You collect them from things like Story Mode. I'm not telling what they are though. I give this mode a 10/10.

Extra Mode : This is a mode for people who are bored of the main boards and mini-games. There are a couple boards and mini-games, so come into this mode if you're bored! I give this mode a 10/10.

Graphics : These graphics are great! They look like real people (and ..um.. dinosaurs and monkeys). The boards have great backgrounds. The mini-games look like a hundred dollars too. I give the graphics a 10/10.

Peach caught Yoshi in a net, how inconsiderate

Sound : The sounds in this game are great! Something that really draws my attention is the voices. Although some things (like Mario's I'm the winner) are partially annoying, they are for the most part great. The music is good too. I like to refer to it as ''What did you say? I was busy listening to the music on this game''. I give the sound a 10/10.

Play Time/Replayability : The play time for this game I don't know because I have not finished it, but I am willing to bet that it is very long. Not only that, but the replayability (as long as you have some friends/sisters/brothers/parents) is endless! You can play this game for a month and still be playing it. I give the play time and replayability a 10/10.

Total :
Gameplay 10/10
Party Mode 10/10
Story Mode 10/10
Mini-Game Mode 10/10
Options Mode 10/10 Donkey Kong statue
Present Mode 10/10
Extra Mode 10/10

The Wrapping-Up : I would recommend this game to anyone. I would advise buying it, not renting it as there is too many things to do and not enough time to do it if you rent. Of course, if you want to rent it and then buy it, you can start from where you were on the rented game because of the memory card.

Total Score : 10/10
