Mario Party 5 Review

Graphics 7/10 - The graphics, overall, in the boards are pretty much awsome. The GCN displays the 3-D boards very well. Its menu's are very well done, to. But the reason it got a 7 instead of 9 or 10 is because the minigames. Most, or some, of them of them have very fine and polished graphics and background graphics, but some of them have bad background graphics.

Sound 6/10 - The sound wasn't very good at all. The voices are pretty much all old MP4 stuff. It could have been better. Though the minigames have some good sound here and there.

Gameplay 10/10 - This is the good part! Actually playing the game, 4-player with friends over, is awsome. It does not get boring. And there are other modes, not just one or two modes that are the same, like MP4.

Controls 10/10 - Awesome controls! You have no trouble with them at all. You usually don't need to use more than 2 or 3 buttons for one minigame. And when your out on the board - well, thats even easier. Its like a one-button thing on the board :-). Also, when you play things like Super Duel Mode, it is also very simple. But don't think that the simple controls make it boring - it just makes it better, because more people can play!

Replay 9/10 - This game is all about replay. The good thing is, you don't really get bored of it so quickly. I've played a LOT of Party Mode games, played the same minigames at least 15 times each, beaten Story Mode, gotten every part in Super Duel Mode, and still, I replay. This game is pretty strong in this field.

Overall 9/10 - Yes, a good 9, its not what most people think this is. At least go rent it and invite 3 friends over. It is actually quite a fun game - anyone can play it, and everyone should try it!

One last thing to top this review off. I'll tell you all about every mode. First, theres Party Mode. And person who's played and Mario Party game before knows what this is. But if you don't, I'll tell you all about it. Okay, its for 1-4 players. Each player selects his or her character. You can be Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Waluigi, and three ones that are exclusive (you can't get them in Story Mode). They are Toad, Boo, and Koopa Kid. The reason you can't get them in Story Mode is because, well, they're the story :-). You'll see what I mean if you play it. Anyway, on with the review. Then you set up some extra settings and then your in - the idea is to try to get the stars (each costs 20 coins), and the person who has the most stars at the end of the game, wins. Lots of things can happen though, like bonus stars at the end, or even someone stealing a star from you!

Then comes Story Mode. Its basically Party Mode, but 1-player only, with a nice story behind it, where you battle against three Koopa Kids, one green, one blue, one red ;-), in smaller versions of the Party Mode boards. Once you play it, you'll know why they're smaller than Party Mode's boards. Boo

Then theres Super Duel Mode. Very fun, this is. LOTS of unlockables, and car parts to buy with your points, which you get from playing minigames. You buy parts, make a car, and battle with it.

Now for mini-game mode. Its just free play of mini-games you've unlocked so far, which this also gets you points for Super Duel Mode.

And last and not least, Bonus Mode. Theres 3 very big ''minigames'', which are Card Party (very small version of Party Mode), Ice Hockey, and Beach Volleyball.
