Super Mario Bros. Super Show Cartoon Episode 34 – The Ten Koopmandments
Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, and Toad are riding on camels on their way to Pyramid Land, as King Koopa, as a pharaoh named Koop Tut, is causing trouble for the citizens. As Mario and co. reach a pair of stelae known as the Ten Koopmandments, they read the various Koopmandments:
It is unclear what the rest of the Koopmandments say, as Mario becomes offended after reading the sixth Koopmandment, claiming that Koop Tut has gone too far. As the group leaves on their camels, they find a nearby Mushroom village, only to find out it is deserted. Toad assumes that all the Mushroom People living there have vanished, but Princess Toadstool points out that not all of them have, as they find three of them who introduce them as The Three Mushrooms; Curly, Larry, and Momar. The Princess asks the Three Mushrooms about the whereabouts of all the other villagers. Curly tells the group that Koop Tut has kidnapped most of them, and Larry continues that they have been turned into bricks. Momar shoves his two siblings, saying that he should be the one talking, and then hits them by the head, hurting them. Toad asks Mario what Koop Tut could be up to. In response, Mario says that it could be something diabolical, sinister, and not very nice.
Meanwhile, Koop Tut is admiring the construction of his colossal Koopinx, which is made entirely out of bricks that were once Mushroom People, being nearly complete. Mouser heads to Koopa to tell him some bad news. Angered by this, Koopa pulls Mouser with his magic staff, saying that he hates bad news, and even the one who brings it. Mouser tries to change the subject by saying that it was "good news" and that he will be rewarded with a medal for bringing it. As Koopa prepares to abuse him, Mouser tells him that they could take the vacation cruise of the Nile. Koopa asks Mouser of what will become of his Koopinx. Mouser tells him that the "great part" is that the Koopinx cannot be finished; they are fresh out of bricks. Koopa shakes Mouser in frustration, saying that it sounded more like bad news for him, and then tosses Mouser into a palm tree, leaving him disappointed that there will not be a cruise nor medal reward for him. Koopa commands Mouser to bring in the Koopa Pack to kidnap the remaining Mushroom People. Mouser accepts this command and walks off, mumbling about how there cannot be anything worse than his boss.
Later, Mario and his friends spot Koopa, Mouser, Tryclyde, and a Koopa Troopa on a chariot driven by an Ostro. Mario tells the gang that there is only one thing they can do. Luigi asks if they could run for their lives. Mario tells Luigi that they should stand and fight, leaving Luigi with no other choice.
When Koop Tut and his Koopa Pack reach the village, he commands them to take over the village until they find the Three Mushrooms, who then launch pie at them with a trebuchet. Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, and Toad show up holding plungers, ready to take down Koop Tut and his army. Mouser, Koopa Troopa, and Tryclyde charge into their battle positions as Mario and his friends prepare to attack. When Mouser and Koopa Troopa begin to twirl their spear and sword respectively, the Three Mushrooms launch more pie at the Koopas, only for Mario, Luigi, the Princess, and Toad to be hit by the pies on accident. Noticing they have mistargeted, Momar grabs his two brothers by the nose, hurting them again. Koopa uses his magic staff to turn the Three Mushrooms into bricks and then trap the heroes in a net.
Trivia & Bloopers
- When Mario and his friends look at the Ten Koopmandments, Toad is larger than normal.
- When Mouser first approaches Koop Tut on his throne, his necklace is missing.
- When the Koopa Pack returns to the village, Koopa Troopa's face is completely yellow. This also happens when they are washed away by the Red Sauce Sea. In the same scene, the Ostro's head plume is missing.
- When Koopa uses his staff to turn the Three Mushrooms into bricks, he, Tryclyde, and Mouser are standing on thin air.
- According to writer Perry Martin, the original premise for the episode was named "Koop-Tut", in which King Koopa "turns everyone into bricks" to build a "Koopinx," but it was rejected by DIC executives, allegedly due to being "too imaginative." Not wanting to waste the premise, Martin rewrote the script as a more straightforward film parody, having remembered that Andy Heyward wanted a parody of The Ten Commandments, and had the script approved.[12]
- In the French dub: With the Plumber's Log removed from the French dub, and Pyramid Land not mentioned anywhere else, this leaves the location the episode takes place ambiguous in the French dub. The "no plumbers" Koopmandment is the third Koopmandment instead of the second.

Artist (Live Action Sketch)
The segment starts with Luigi painting a picture and Mario grabbing various bags of Italian food out of the refrigerator. When the phones starts ringing, Mario, out of frustration in noticing that a nearby Luigi is too preoccupied with his sketching, drops the food and heads over to the phone. He gets a call from someone saying that Luigi had won an art contest and that he drew the best Tippi Turtle ever, in which a famous artist is coming over to Mario Brothers Plumbing to teach him art lessons and that he wants to meet him in person. Luigi, upon hearing this, is excited to hear about the artist's arrival, yet nonetheless is not prepared for the occasion. The Mario Bros. then get themselves prepared for the artist's visit.
As Mario washes his hands, Luigi walks around anxiously about his best Tippi Turtle picture. When the door rings, Luigi runs over to it, and meets the artist, who introduces himself as Vincent Van Gook. Luigi greets Vincent welcome, saying that it is an honor to meet him. Vincent replies back saying that the pleasure is all his. Vincent then notices a smell, assuming it is either intense creativity or old sweat socks. Luigi tells Vincent that he was close enough; it was Mario's meat sauce. Luigi then asks Vincent if he could give him a seat. Vincent replies saying he "never sits when he works", but is however tired. Vincent then tells Luigi to get him a chair. As Luigi gives him a chair, Vincent sets up his easel and gives Luigi some quick and rather odd art lessons, such as to not poke a sharp pencil at his ear and to wait three hours before he can go swimming after lunch. Afterwards, Mario clumsily drops some pasta in the ground, causing Vincent to think Mario's pasta he dropped was a masterpiece and that he was truly an artiste for his minor accident.
Mario tells Vincent that art is like "a big hairball caught in a drain." Vincent is then reassured that Mario's phrase was disgusting but rather well-put. Luigi, confused, tells Vincent that he was the one who drew the best Tippi Turtle he ever saw. Vincent tells Luigi yes, and that his art lessons will be taught by his brother from the moment onward. Mario gives out his first art lesson, saying that art "should not only look good, but it should taste good" as he grabs a piece of popcorn off the picture and eats it. Luigi chastises Mario saying that he never had art skills in the first place. Mario replies to Luigi, claiming that Vincent has "woken up his hidden talent." Luigi, annoyed, insults Mario that Vincent did not wake up his hidden brain. Luigi then shows Vincent a rather well-detailed picture of a pizza and an orange. Vincent tells Luigi that it was very interesting, although it lacks the professional quality that Mario's work apparently models, in which Mario agrees to this in return. Luigi tells angrily him, "Who asked you?" and leaves. Vincent tells Mario his art lessons could cost him some money. Mario agrees to Vincent's response, asking him how much. Vincent replies saying that his art lessons are worth $1,500.00, but only for the week. Before Mario can react, Luigi, who is looking at the newspaper, tells his brother that Vincent is actually a conman trying to steal their money. Vincent, upon hearing this, starts escaping, saying that art lessons are over for the day and that he has to "head over to Mrs. Poncherelli's house to finish her back porch" and starts to leave the apartment. Mario tries to get Vincent's attention, but to no avail. He then claims that art in general changes so fast. Luigi comforts Mario telling him that he never liked Vincent anyway. Mario apologizes to Luigi for thinking that he knew what he was doing. Luigi forgives Mario, telling him that he learned one thing: "Art should not only look good, but it should look good on you." Luigi then puts the food-filled painting right on Mario's head and laughs at him, as he finishes that art "should taste good, too."
