King Koopa sentences Mario and friends to the island prison of Koopatraz. Once there they meet up with Toad's long lost grandfather, who happens to be their cellmate. Together they try to work out a way to escape from prison.

Luigi teaches himself French in an attempt to get a girlfriend.
